Manos Yarns
Manos yarns are a delight to the senses and the Manos story is truly inspiring. Started over 40 years ago by a group of women intent on promoting social and economic development in the rural areas of Uruguay.
Scattered all over Urguguay and organized into a collection of 17 cooperatives, the craftswomen who spin and dye your yarn are also the owners of Manos Del Uruguay. These rural women stay at home, contribute to and develop their communities and remain with their families while they do it.
Wool Classica is a mixture of corriedale and merino, soft, strong and so beautiful in their handspun, hand-dyed skeins. Solids, or space-dyed, Manos never disappoints.
Silk Blend is 70% merino and 30% silk, spun as singles. The silk blend colorways can all be found in the wools, but here they are more muted because the silk takes the dye differently. This is a relatively new yarn and the color range is growing with every season!
Cotton Stria is a joy to wear, softening with every wash and becoming more and more pliable. It's like a thin roving wrapped with a binder, and it knits up into wonderful children's garments and summer wear for adults.

If you're unsure of your color choices, please give us a call. Our generous shop customers who already know and love Manos understand the need to see and touch the yarn, and many have given us their tag samples so that we can send them to you when you're undecided.
