Corriedale and Merino, single spun to thick-and- thin knitting bliss! No two skeins are the same, but every one is a delight to behold and to knit!
Wool Clasica comes in 100g skeins, each containing about 137 yds. It knits beautifully on size 9 or 10 needles to a gauge of 14-16 sts in 4 inches.. If you're a tight knitter, you will definitely want to go up a size or two. depending on what you're making. New knitters -- the thick and thin nature of Manos wool makes it easy to hide unevenness, as you develop your ability to keep consistent tension on your work!
Because it's handspun, and some skeins contain more thick yarn than others, yardage can vary. It will save you on shipping to buy all of your yarn at one time, but because there are no dye lots, there are no guarantees that 10 skeins you buy today will flow seamlessly from one to the next, and if you need another skein later on, you know that you won't have to worry about dye lot. Expect changes in spin and variations in color. Some skeins are more striated, others are more even. In general, the deeper, more saturated colors tend to have less variation, but as we said -- no guarantees! All of these variations are considered to be part of the natural beauty of the yarn, and add a level of complexity that you won't find anywhere else.
Manos has been a staple at Fibers since we first opened our doors -- we stock every color and if it's not on our "Manos Wall," it's on order. We've seen the wannabes, but frankly, I haven't yet seen a yarn that can compete with the sheer range of colors or with the complexity and beauty of the palette. To see for yourself, visit our Manos Catalog and take a look at how many solids work with the multis! And by the way, if a group of solids works well with a given multi, you can be sure that they'll work well together even without the multi!
PLEASE NOTE-- Several colors are being discontinued... to ensure that you are not disappointed, please call!
If your project requires more than one skein, please knit from two or more skeins at the same time to avoid developing a hard color line where the skeins join. [Work across and back with skein 1 and then across and back with skein 2. Always pick up your new yarn from below and from the right, so that you "trap" the old yarn at the selvedge. For more complete blending, you can work with 3 skeins simultaneously; work one row with each yarn, always picking up the one that's lowest.]
This yarn felts beautifully, but if that's not what you want, be sure to wash your garment by hand and lay it flat to dry!
