Schaefer Yarns
Cheryl Schaefer has been hand-painting individual skeins of yarn since 1980! Over the years, she's dyed many, many combinations. She currently offers more than 70 stunning colorways, most of them named for Memorable Women.
In addition, she always has her eye out for great new yarns, and to date, there are 17 different fiber/spin/weight combinations! Every weight is represented, from super-fine silks to medium cottons and super-bulky wools.
When you do the math, you quickly realize that no neighborhood local yarn store can stock sweater quantities of every gorgeous Schaefer Yarn in every one of the fabulous colorways! In fact, I figured out pretty quickly that I couldn't bring in even one skein in every color and every yarn type... but because Cheryl is so supportive of Local Yarn Stores, it's possible for you to make a special order of just what you want, with reasonable minimum skein requirements applying only in the 3 cottons. All the wools and silks are available in single skeins!
So, on these pages, we offer you the opportunity to shop at your leisure -- in your jammies, even! -- make your order and let us send it to you as soon as Cheryl and her dedicated dyers have created your skeins for you.
As you browse the yarns and colors, keep in mind that each yarn smple will be shown at the top of the sample box. The colors are shown in a variety of yarns, and each fiber will take the dye a bit differently, so the samples are for reference only. In addition to the varying amounts of dye that each fiber will take up, some fibers are naturally more shimmery than others, and of course, this will affect the final look of your yarn.

The knitting is almost too easy, given that you'll be making an heirloom!
